Secret Garden

The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden, an original ballet staged by Catherine Bays Kyle, is based on the beloved children's novel by Francis Hodgson Burnett.

In 1910, a bitter young girl, Mary Lennox, orphaned by an earthquake in India, is sent to England to live in the ancestral lonely manor in Yorkshire. Mary briefly meets her uncle, still mourning for the wife who died ten years ago, but she is mostly left on her own. A resourceful and inquisitive girl, she discovers two secrets at the manor. First, she finds an overgrown secret garden that has been locked for ten years. Mary also discovers she has a cousin, Colin, a sickly boy who remains in bed and out of the daylight at all times. With the help of Dickon, Mary transforms the secret garden and brings new life to her family and friends.

Performances on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Arend Arts Center, 1901 S.E. "J" Street, Bentonville, AR
